Words are powerful. Why else are their words that we aren’t allowed to say? Words that easily hurt and insult each other? Words that can earn forgiveness? Words that can make someone fall in love?
I have long been obsessed with words. I partially blame my parents. They constantly took me to libraries, read to me, and never said no to an extra book at the bookstore. My book collections always spread beyond the confines of my bedroom. At one point, even the basement shelves were converted into an extended part of my collection.
But my love for words didn’t stop with the ones that other people had written. I wanted to write my own words. I wanted to string together phrase, poetry, prose, and eventually stories. I wanted to take words and use them to describe the inner demons of human nature, the parts of our worlds that haunt us. I wanted to carve in ink the indescribable.
When I write, I have little control over my characters. They tell me their stories and I transcribe their secrets and nightmares.
Two of my short stories are available in the Supernatural Beings Anthologies.
